김지철 충남교육감이 8월 29일 개인 SNS에 ‘경술국치’ 관련 글을 올려 심경을 전했다.
김 교육감은 "8월 29일, 오늘은 일제가 강제로 우리나라를 빼앗았던 경술국치 ‘일한병합조약’ 113주년입니다"로 시작하는 글에서 "최근 육군사관학교에서는 김좌진 홍범도 이범석 지청천 이회영 5인의 독립 영웅 흉상을 철거한다는 보도가 있었습니다. 참으로 안타까운 일입니다. 그분들의 희생과 헌신이 있었기에 오늘의 대한민국이, 오늘의 육사가 있게 되었다는 사실을 꼭 기억하면 좋겠습니다"고 전했다.
