Daejeon City Accelerates Attraction of Foreign Tourists Linked to the Chungcheong Region Through Familiarization Tours for Major Taiwanese Travel Agencies
Daejeon City, in collaboration with the Chungcheong Region Tourism Promotion Council, is launching a full-scale effort to attract global tourists by inviting officials from major Taiwanese travel agencies to showcase the region's diverse tourism resources.
Daejeon City announced that it will conduct a six-day, five-night familiarization tour linking the four cities and provinces of the Chungcheong region for Taiwanese travel industry representatives from August 27 to September 1. The visiting delegation, arriving via Cheongju International Airport, will tour major attractions throughout the region to explore the potential for developing region-specific tourism products.
This event is a follow-up to the Chungcheong region tourism briefing (sales call) held in Taiwan last April.
Daejeon City's strategy is to further solidify its local network while leveraging the Korea Tourism Organization's Taipei branch's "Year of Central Tourism" project to achieve tangible results, such as launching local products and attracting tourists in Taiwan. In particular, the focus is on developing customized products tailored to the high accessibility via Cheongju Airport and the recently increasing demand for local tourism.
The visit to Daejeon will take place on August 29. The Taiwanese delegation plans to personally explore Daejeon’s unique and differentiated itinerary, which encompasses urban experiences, gourmet dining, shopping, and relaxation.
The detailed itinerary begins with a visit to the Shinsegae Aquarium, followed by a visit to the Daejeon Travel Lounge to participate in a "Making Kkumdori T-shirts" experience featuring the region's representative character.
Next, they will visit Euneungjeong Street and Jungang Market to explore the unique vitality and diverse culinary delights of the old city center, and experience an urban foot bath in the Yuseong Hot Springs district. In parallel, the tour will promote K-sports content linking the Hanwha Eagles with Taiwanese player Wang Yen-cheng.
Using this familiarization tour as a stepping stone, Daejeon City plans to solidify tourism cooperation within the Chungcheong region and significantly expand its foundation for attracting overseas tourists by continuously developing tourism products that combine complex content such as experiences, gourmet dining, and sports.
