Daejeon Fire Headquarters Reorganizes into '5 Divisions, 1 Office, 26 Teams' System to Strengthen On-Site Response Capabilities
The Daejeon Fire Headquarters has significantly reorganized its structure to keep pace with rapidly changing disaster patterns and the sharply increasing demand for fire administration.
The Daejeon Fire Headquarters announced that it has expanded and reorganized its structure from the existing '4 Divisions, 1 Office, 22 Teams' to '5 Divisions, 1 Office, 26 Teams,' thereby substantially enhancing qualitative capabilities across various fields, including the advancement of fire infrastructure management, precise fire investigations, 119 situation management, and the reinforcement of field personnel for ambulance services.
The core of this organizational restructuring is the specialization of administrative support departments and the substantial reinforcement of field response capabilities. First, a new 'Accounting and Equipment Division' has been established to exclusively handle equipment management and infrastructure tasks.
The plan is to firmly solidify the foundation for rapid disaster response by overseeing the construction and modernization projects of fire stations, alongside the timely introduction and systematic maintenance of advanced firefighting equipment. Mechanisms have also been put in place to improve the scientific approach and expertise in determining the causes of fires. A new 'Fire Investigation Team' has been established within the Response and Investigation Division to enhance the precision of fire cause analysis and damage assessment, and to formulate effective fire prevention and recurrence prevention measures based on accumulated data.
The operational system of the 119 Emergency Command Center, responsible for the initial response to disasters, has also been significantly reorganized. The number of shift teams has been expanded from three to four to drastically reduce staff fatigue, and the framework has been established to enable uninterrupted 24-hour situation assessment and rapid, accurate on-site command. Along with this, dispatch personnel at frontline ambulance sites have been reinforced.
Based on an analysis of ambulance demand by station and firefighting force standards, three additional field paramedics have been deployed to secure the "golden hour" and enhance the stability of emergency patient transport operations.
