(From the Alley to the World: The Power of Startup City Daejeon)’이라는 슬로건 아래 진행된다.

Daejeon City and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups Open ‘2026 Startup Korea Investment Week’…
The ‘2026 Startup Korea Investment Week (SIW)’ kicked off on September 1 at the Daejeon Startup Park headquarters in Gung-dong, Yuseong-gu. The event was planned by Daejeon Metropolitan City and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups to revitalize the local startup and investment ecosystem.
The opening ceremony was attended by approximately 100 people, including Ji Young-han, Vice Mayor for Political Affairs and Science of Daejeon; Mok Seung-hwan, Head of the Startup & Venture Innovation Office at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups; the presidents of local universities such as Chungnam National University, Hanbat National University, Hannam University, and Konyang University; and representatives from domestic and international investors and innovative startups.
This year’s event is being held under the slogan, ‘From the Alley to the World: The Power of Startup City Daejeon.’
The opening performance vividly portrayed the process of entrepreneurial capabilities, previously scattered across the Daedeok R&D Special Zone, local universities, and research institutions, converging in Gung-dong before expanding into the global market. At the subsequent Vision Proclamation Ceremony, approximately 20 startup-related partner organizations joined forces to officially adopt "Daejeon, a Startup City Where Innovative Technologies Grow into Unicorn Companies" as their vision, and set a goal to enter the world's top 100 global startup cities by 2030.
Building on the achievement of being selected as a priority site for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' Startup City Development Project in the first half of this year, Daejeon City plans to actively support the Daedeok Special Zone so that its unrivaled technological capabilities bear fruit in technology-based startups and global scale-ups.
Marking its fourth year, Investment Week is the largest alley-style investment linkage event in Korea, integrated with local commercial districts. Held for three days until September 3rd at Daejeon Startup Park, Tipstown, and small business stores in the Gung-dong area, the event is expected to attract around 5,000 domestic and international investors and startup stakeholders.
During the event, one-on-one customized investment consultations, a Demo Day, a Global Forum, and networking events will be held consecutively. In particular, this year saw the introduction of numerous specialized programs tailored to specific sectors, such as the Physical AI Forum, Investor Relations (IR) sessions, the Climate Tech Innovation Forum, and the Re-challenge Seminar, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of investment attraction.
Over the past three years, this event has attracted a cumulative total of approximately 14,300 visitors. Through an annual average of around 1,200 investment consultations, it has achieved direct and indirect investment totaling 93 billion KRW.
Meanwhile, the cooperation network with overseas institutions has also been significantly expanded this year. Investment and startup support agencies from 10 countries, including Mongolia, China, Hong Kong, France, and Germany, will participate on-site to provide multifaceted support for K-startups' global expansion, local proof-of-concept (PoC) testing, and the attraction of foreign capital.
